Police arrest two Dorchester men for alleged carjacking
Two Dorchester men were arrested Sunday after they allegedly carjacked and assaulted another man in Roxbury, according to Boston police.At about 1 a.m., officers saw a man driving a scooter without a headlight or helmet in the Humboldt Avenue and Waumbeck Street area. The vehicle entered Trotter Park, where officers lost sight of it, police said.As they arrived at the entrance of the park, officers observed Cody Brown, 25, and Raquawn Givens, 20, running toward them while looking back over their shoulders, according to police. After officers stopped the men for trespassing and conducted a pat frisk, the man on the scooter approached and told officers that Brown and Givens had carjacked him earlier. The victim explained he was sleeping in his SUV when Brown and Givens dragged him out by his shirt, assaulted him, and drove away in his car, according to police. He stated he then went to a friend’s house and borrowed a scooter to look for the suspects, following them into the park.Police said officers recovered the victim’s car keys in Brown’s pants pocket as well as a large black Bowie knife on him, and more than 20 Xanax pills on Givens.The two men were taken into custody and charged with armed carjacking and trespassing. Givens was additionally charged with possession with intent to distribute a Class C drug, and Brown was also charged with unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon.
