Hopedale woman hit by garbage truck in Milford
A Hopedale woman was seriously injured after she was struck by a garbage truck while crossing a street in Milford on Wednesday, police said.At around 12:12 p.m., the 69-year-old was crossing the intersection at West and West Maple streets when the crash occurred. She suffered a serious injury to her right foot, police said.Officer Craig Stanley said police believe the woman might not have been paying attention and walked into the truck’s side as it reached the intersection.According to police, a nurse who witnessed the collision performed emergency medical services on the woman, tying a towel around her leg.“She was doing a very good job,” Stanley said.The woman was taken by ambulance to the UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and is in stable condition, police said.
