Police identify man killed in Lynn shooting

The man who was fatally shot in Lynn early Monday morning has been identified, according to police.

Philip Russo, 24, was killed in what officials said was not a random act.

Police said Russo’s last listed address is in Peabody, but that investigators are trying to determine if he was currently living in an apartment in Lynn.

The shooting took place at Chestnut and Mason streets just before 6 a.m. on Monday, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s office.

There, police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was transported to Lynn Union Hospital and pronounced dead shortly after.
