Swimmer drowns in Waltham reservoir
A swimmer reported missing in Waltham’s Stony Brook Reservoir on Wednesday evening was found dead after a search, according to state police.
Waltham police said they received a call about a missing swimmer at around 5:30 p.m. They then requested assistance from state police to locate him.
A dive team searched the reservoir at the end of Sibley Road. At about 7:30 p.m., divers recovered the victim’s body in the part of the basin within the city of Cambridge. The victim was only identified as a 20-year-old Waltham man Wednesday night.
State police, Waltham police, Cambridge police, and the Middlesex District Attorney’s office are investigating the drowning.
Stoney Brook Reservoir is a source of drinking water for Cambridge, and swimming is not allowed.
