Northeastern student dies in boating accident
Mohamed Bazzi was canoeing at Fort Pond in Littleton
Mohamed Bazzi, a Northeastern University Business School student, died in a boating accident over the Fourth of July weekend.
Bazzi, who was 21, went canoeing by himself at around 7 p.m. Saturday night at Fort Pond in Littleton. His body was found floating near the shoreline later that night during a search by police.
Hugh Courtney, dean of Northeastern’s School of Business, wrote the following message to students.
“Mohamed was a strong student and completed a successful co-op at the New England Baptist Hospital (NEBH) where he was a valued part of the Materials Management Team,” Courtney said in his statement. “In part due to his hard work and dedication, Mohamed had secured a second co-op at Deloitte which was to begin this month. In his own words, he believed that ‘The most valuable lesson of all (is) how essential team work is. . . . As a team . . . I came to the realization that each individual can make a difference.'”
Funeral services will be held Tuesday night in Watertown.
