Missing canoer found dead at Littleton pond
A Boston man who went missing Saturday evening while canoeing alone was found dead alongside a Littleton pond, according to police.
Littleton police responded to a report of a missing canoer around 9:30 p.m. The reported missing person, a 21-year-old man, had last been seen around 7 p.m. when he went to Fort Pond to canoe by himself, police said.
After searching the area, officers recovered the man’s body about 20 to 30 feet from the pond shoreline.
“This is a tragic ending to a holiday weekend adventure,” Police Chief Matthew King said in a release. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families involved, and we ask everyone to remain extra vigilant as their weekend continues.”
