Toddler’s parents located after he was found alone on a Boston playground

The parents of a toddler left alone on a Boston playground on Saturday were located the next day, but the boy remains in state custody, authorities say.

The boy, who Boston police say is 2 or 3 years old, was discovered alone on a Mattapan playground Saturday just after 6:30 p.m., according to the Boston Police Department. Police say he called himself “Adriel,” was found barefoot, wearing a gray t-shirt, and riding a red tricycle. He was found in “good health,” according to police.

The child was placed in the custody of the Department of Children and Families while investigators searched for his parents. Police say they located his parents on Sunday.

No charges have been filed. The boy remains in the custody of the state while the matter is under investigation, according to police.
