MBTA cop investigated in connection to Facebook post ridiculing man
A social media post by an MBTA police officer — showing a photo of a man who appeared to be defecating on the floor of an MBTA station — is the basis of an investigation by the department, according to The Boston Globe.
The post appeared on the Facebook page of Ashley Carlson, an 8-year transit police veteran, and showed a man lying beside a wheelchair in a fetal position with his pants lowered, according to the Globe.
“You think your job is [expletive]!!!” Carlson wrote on her Facebook page. “This is what we responded to this morning. This guy is well known to police and has a lengthy record. I don’t get paid enough to deal with this [expletive]… literally and figuratively!!!”
MBTA police officials called the post “concerning.” Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan told the Globe that the department is looking into the incident. He said that if the investigation shows that Carlson posted the image, then the department will seek to determine whether she did so while on she was on duty.
So far, Carlson has not been disciplined.
