Neighbors react to shooting of woman in Dorchester

After a woman was shot on a Dorchester street Tuesday night, her neighbors talked about how quiet and nonviolent the street had been, reports The Boston Globe.

The woman was shot on Park Street at about 9:30 p.m. and was taken to Boston Medical Center with injuries that were not life threatening, police at the scene told the Globe. Police did not identify her and no one was arrested, according to the Globe.

Neighbors reported hearing about five gunshots.

Ali Alananzeh, 16, who has lived on Park Street for two years, said the street is not usually violent.

A neighbor, who went to her porch when she heard the shots, would not give her name but told the Globe, “It’s every day. So it’s like, what can you do? It’s sad. It’s really sad. … I feel bad for the police, for the community.”
