Uxbridge schools closed after E. coli is found in town water
Public schools in Uxbridge are closed Monday due to the recent detection of E. Coli bacteria in the town’s drinking water.
The town issued a boil-water alert over the weekend after water samples tested positive for E. coli.
An Uxbridge police spokesperson confirmed to Boston.com that public schools are closed Monday due to the water situation.
The town is urging residents to drink bottled water or to bring tap water to a rolling boil for at least one minute before consuming. Boiled or bottled water should also by used for food preparation, brushing teeth, and watching dishes until further notice, the town said.
