Young man killed by commuter rail train in Franklin identified
A 27-year-old man died Saturday after he was struck by a commuter rail train in Franklin, according to MBTA Transit Police.
Eric Parker, of Sudbury, was struck and killed by an outbound train on the Forge Park Line while trespassing on the tracks, officials said. Multiple MBTA police units, as well as Franklin fire and emergency services, responded to reports of the incident around 4:20 p.m., according to a press release Saturday night.
Foul play is not suspected, according to MBTA police, who said they are continuing to investigate the incident.
For about 90 minutes Saturday afternoon, according to the MBTA Commuter Rail Twitter account, trains between Forge Park and Franklin stations were stopped and replaced by buses.
