An emaciated baby red tail hawk that found itself in the middle of Route 125 in Andover is safe thanks to the actions of two good samaritans and a state police trooper.

State police said Trooper Leigha Genduso stopped to check on two people parked in the breakdown lane in Andover Monday. The pair then led her to a baby hawk near the woodline. The tiny bird of prey had been in the middle of the road, but was guided to the safer area by the two good samaritans, according to police.

Genduso brought the baby hawk back to the Andover Barracks and contacted Diane Welch, a rescue falconer, police said. Welch picked up the bird, which police said appears to have fallen out of its nest, and is rehabilitating the little raptor.
