A bunch of adults lined up to greet students at a Dorchester high school Monday morning, five days after a 17-year-old boy was shot dead outside of the building.

Students at Jeremiah E. Burke High were greeted by men and women from Boston and surrounding communities, who were there to “show support, encouragement, and examples of positive role models in the wake of a tragic loss,” said Boston Public Schools in a statement.
Raekwon Brown, a junior at the school, was shot outside of the school on Wednesday after a fire alarm sent students onto the street. Three others were injured during the incident.
The event was organized by the Mayor’s Office of Public Safety Initiatives and Boston Public Schools.
