The friends, family, and community members who attended the vigil near Jeremiah E. Burke High School on Thursday remembered Raekwon Brown as a respectful, fun-loving kid who had a nearly perfect attendance record at school.

Brown’s sister, 29-year-old Patrice Volel, told the Globe she couldn’t understand why anyone would have wanted to hurt her brother.
