Cape Cod woman wins $15 million on scratch ticket
Hilary Alma was on her way to the gym when she decided to drop by a Cape Cod country store and buy a scratch ticket.
It’s a decision that changed her life.
Alma, from East Sandwich, won a $15 million prize after buying a $30 “Ultimate Millions” ticket. Massachusetts Lottery officials say it’s the largest “scratch and win” prize ever offered on an instant ticket.
She bought the ticket at Mashpee Country Store, which will receive a $50,000 bonus for the sale.
Alma chose to receive her prize in 20 annual payments of $750,000 (before tax withholdings). She told the Massachusetts Lottery that she plans to put some of her winnings toward home repairs.
For those hoping to mimic Alma’s win, there are three $15 million prizes left and 62 $1 milion prizes left in the “Ultimate Millions” game, which went on sale April 26.
