The body found in the Connecticut River on Monday afternoon has been identified as the man who allegedly stabbed a Quincy College professor to death, according to the Northwest District Attorney’s office.

The body of Tyler Hagmaier, 24, of Plymouth, was found in Gill by Selectman Greg Snedeker and his daughter, in the reeds 30 feet from shore, authorities said.

Hagmaier is suspected of fatally stabbing his neighbor, 76-year-old Quincy College professor Vibeke Rasmussen, in her Plymouth apartment May 5.

Police discovered Hagmaier’s car May 6 near the French King Bridge over the Connecticut River. Hagmaier had a history of mental illness and violent behavior, according to authorities. Authorities said the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will work to determine Hagmaier’s cause of death.
