Hitler quote published in Maine high school yearbook
A quote attributed to Adolf Hitler was published in this year’s Bangor High School yearbook, the Bangor Daily News reports.
The quote, “Anyone who sees and paints a sky green and the fields blue ought to be sterilized,” was attributed to the Nazi leader responsible for millions of deaths and was printed under the photograph of a senior student, according to the Daily News.
High School Principal Paul Butler told the paper he learned of the quote on May 26 after distribution of the yearbook began and that a “regrettable” oversight led to its publication.
“I have determined that flaws in the submission and review timeline and process, not flaws in judgment regarding the appropriateness of including such a quote, are the cause of its regrettable appearance in the book,” he told the paper.
The school is requesting students bring in their yearbooks to have a sticker applied over the quote, according to the Daily News.
