Zakim Bridge shines blue in memory of fallen Auburn Police Officer Ronald Tarentino Jr.

Following a day that saw the life of Ronald Tarentino Jr. honored across Massachusetts, the fallen Auburn police officer received one more tribute as the sun set on Boston’s skyline.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, the Zakim Bridge was lit blue Thursday night in memory of Tarentino, who was fatally shot during a traffic stop in Auburn on Sunday.

Family, friends, and police attended the 42-year-old’s wake Thursday in Charlton, as Gov. Charlie Baker ordered the American and Massachusetts flags flown at half-staff until sunset Friday. Tarentino’s funeral is scheduled for Friday.

The lifelong Massachusetts resident is survived by his wife of 20 years and three sons.
