“Thousands of law enforcement officers from points around the nation will pay their respects,” said Massachusetts State Police in a statement.
Police say Tarentino will be eulogized by his sister at the wake Thursday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. His children and colleagues are also expected to speak.
Tarentino, a 42 year-old father of three from Leicester, was allegedly shot and killed early Sunday morning by Zambrano at a traffic stop. Later that day, Zambrano, who has a long criminal history, was killed in a shootout with police in Oxford.
Tarentino’s funeral will take place on Friday. Gov. Charlie Baker has ordered the US flag and state flag flown at half-staff until Friday night, according MassDOT communications director Jacquelyn Goddard.
