Police start fund for slain Auburn officer’s family

Officer Ronald Tarentino
Auburn police have started a fund in memory of the officer who was shot and killed during a traffic stop early Sunday morning.
Ronald Tarentino, 42, was killed in the line of duty around 12:30 a.m. Police say Jorge Zambrano, 35, who was killed later Sunday in a shootout with police, was responsible for Tarentino’s death.
Tarentino leaves behind a wife and three children, who the memorial fund will help to support.
“Words can not adequately express our Department’s appreciation for the outpouring of support that we have received after the tragic loss of Officer Tarentino,” police wrote in a Facebook post.
Police ask that donations be sent to: Officer Ronald Tarentino Memorial Fund, c/o Savers Bank in Auburn, 38 Auburn St., Auburn, MA 01501.
