Newton woman kidnapped from assisted living facility
Police are investigating the kidnapping of a 62-year-old woman Tuesday from a Newton assisted living facility.
Employees noticed Beth Birnbaum was missing around 2 p.m. after they found her wheelchair outside the facility where she has been living since March, according to Newton police.
Newton Police Lt. Bruce Apotheker said authorities believe she is with 55-year-old David Collignan, who was visiting her at the CareOne facility and had been told Birnbaum was not allowed to leave the facility.

Collingnan, a known acquaintance of Birnbaum’s, was seen taking some of her clothing outside the building, police said. Police believe he is driving a gray Honda Fit with the license plate “744-YR1.”
Apotheker said there is concern that Birnbaum could be in a dire need of her medications.
“We are very concerned for well being,” he said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police department or Newton police.
