Woman in critical condition after being struck by object in Roxbury
Boston police are investigating an early morning incident Thursday that left a 25-year-old woman in critical condition.
A police spokeswoman said the woman, who was stable Thursday afternoon and is expected to survive, was walking with a young child near 45 Waumbeck Street in Roxbury when it appears she was struck by “a blunt object.”
Officers responded to the scene near Trotter Elementary School around 7:14 a.m.
“Boston Public Schools learned that a violent incident took place a short distance from the Trotter K-8 School before classes began this morning,” the school district said in a statement. “BPS has sent counselors to provide support to any students or staff who may have witnessed or become affected by the incident.”
