Head-on crash injures 7, closes part of I-95 in Georgetown
A head-on crash in Georgetown injured seven people and closed part of I-95 Sunday afternoon after a vehicle veered across the median and into oncoming traffic, according to police.
Around 1:40 p.m., a Chevrolet SUV traveling northbound crossed the center median and collided head-on with a Nissan SUV traveling south, police said. Another vehicle then became involved in the crash.
The Nissan’s driver, a woman in her 30s or 40s, was transported from the scene by medical helicopter with serious head and back injures. police said. Two other adults and four children were taken to local hospitals with injuries that weren’t considered to be life-threatening, according to police.
The southbound lanes near exit 54 were closed for about 30 minutes, police said.
Massachusetts State Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
