MBTA announces K9’s new name, chosen by the public
The new four-legged Transit Police recruit now has a name, thanks to the public.
Officials asked the community earlier this week to send name suggestions for the new K9 via text and social media.
The winning name? Hunter.
Hunter, a Belgian Malinois, is completing his training before he can go on patrol.
Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said the name search generated “tremendous interest.”
Honorable mentions were “Charlie” and “Trax.”
Other monikers offered up by riders included “Gunner,” “Copley,” and “Maverick.”
Thanks to all who offered suggestions !! His name is HUNTER. #MBTA Honorable mention “Charlie” and “Trax” pic.twitter.com/h40mblWequ
