NEWTON, Mass. (AP) — The mayor of a Massachusetts town whose schools have been targeted by a recent spate of anti-Semitic incidents has announced a plan to ensure students in the district feel welcome.

The office of Newton Mayor Setti Warren says the city has brought in a civil rights consultant to work alongside Newton school administrators.

Warren says the city wants to emphasize its community values. He says he plans to hold a community discussion April 7 at City Hall.

Three incidents of anti-Semitic graffiti have been reported at Newton North High School since a March 11 basketball game at which student fans of the opposing team chanted, ‘‘You killed Jesus.’’
