Maynard firefighter recently accused of raping a child more than 20 years ago found dead
The Maynard firefighter who was accused last month of raping a child in an incident that dates back to 1991, was found dead Tuesday, according to Maynard police. His death “is not considered suspicious,’’ police said.
James MacGillivary, 59, was found unresponsive in him home on Mill Street in Maynard around 11:15 p.m., according to police. He was transported to Emerson Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
MacGillivary was arrested in February and charged with rape of a child with force. MacGillivary, who had served with the Maynard Fire Department since 1986, was placed on leave on February 5 when police opened the investigation.
