Dance instructor accused of raping student held without bail
A Boston dance instructor is being held without bail on charges that he sexually assaulted a child during a lesson in his North End home last year.
Wilson Anthony, 19, was arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on Tuesday on two counts each of aggravated rape of a child and indecent assault and battery on a child, according to the Suffolk District Attorney’s office.
Authorities said the boy Anthony allegedly assaulted in his Canal Street apartment on various dates between June and September last year went to a Boston police station on Sunday with his parents to report the abuse.
“As a parent, it’s always concerning and frightening to hear about cases such as this, where a trusted adult is accused of abusing a child,’’ Suffolk District Attorney Daniel Conley said in a statement. “I would ask any parent or caregiver to reassure your children that they can talk to you about anything, especially anything that might make them afraid or uncomfortable.’’
An attorney for Anthony did not immediately return a request for comment.
