Teen faces armed robbery charges after police say he used a BB gun to steal sneakers
Boston police arrested a teenager for armed robbery after they say he flashed a BB gun and made off with a pair of sneakers.
The incident happened Saturday afternoon in Roxbury. Police say the 17-year-old arranged online to meet the seller at a pizza shop. The seller handed the suspect the sneakers and was handed a deck of cards with two $1 bills wrapped around it rather than the agreed upon payment, said police. When the victim tried to stop the suspect from leaving, police say he pulled up his shirt to reveal the BB gun. After that, the victim fled the scene.
Police tracked down the suspect, who was identified by the victim. A K-9 officer located the BB gun police believe was used in the incident in a nearby trash can. The sneakers have not been found.
The suspect, who has not been named, is from Mattapan. He will be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court.
