Driver who crashed SUV into a West Bridgewater house may face charges

First responders found the driver pinned under the wheel of the car.

A 25-year-old West Bridgewater man may face criminal charges after he crashed his SUV into a house on Friday morning, according to West Bridgewater police.

“The preliminary investigation indicates speed and other factors may have contributed to the cause of this crash,’’ said Officer Gerard Julien-Suarez, of the West Bridgewater Police Department. “As the investigation continues, it appears that both civil and criminal charges might be filed.’’

First responders found the man, whose name has not been released, trapped under the driver’s side wheel of the vehicle at 6:33 a.m., Julien-Suarez said. The man “was conscious and alert when first responders freed him from the vehicle,’’ he said.

The man was taken by medical helicopter to Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

A resident of the house, who was home at the time of the crash, was checked by emergency personnel but was not injured, according to Lt. Victor Flaherty, of the West Bridgewater Police Department.

The crash happened in a busy area for foot traffic, where children walk to bus stops and school, said Julien-Suarez.

This is the second crash in as many days involving a motor vehicle striking a home in West Bridgewater, according to police. A car crashed into a home on West Center Street on Thursday.
