Ex-US Rep. Tierney lands job with anti-nuclear weapons group
BOSTON (AP) — Former Massachusetts Democratic Congressman John Tierney has landed a new job.
Tierney has been named executive director of the Council for a Livable World and the Center for Arms Control and Non-Proliferation.
The Washington-based group, founded in 1962, describes itself as the nation’s leading political action committee for promoting nuclear arms control and preventing nuclear proliferation.
The group says it also pushes for diplomatic solutions to national security issues.
Tierney served on the House Intelligence Committee and chaired a national security subcommittee.
The Salem native served nine terms in Congress representing the state’s 6th Congressional District before he was defeated in a Democratic primary in 2014 by Iraq war veteran Seth Moulton, who went on to win the general election.
Moulton is now seeking a second term in office.
