A pop-up library under the Longfellow Bridge has been boarded up
The 67 books under the bridge were removed because they were on a wall that will be demolished.
A pop-up mini library along the walkway beneath the Longfellow Bridge was a short-lived concept.
The library was boarded up on Monday, reports The Boston Globe.
The 67 books under the bridge were removed and the shelves were covered because the wall will be demolished, Jacquelyn Goddard, a spokesperson for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, told the Globe.
The library, which cropped up recently, was in the way of the $255 million bridge upgrade that began in 2013 and is scheduled for completion in two years, according to the Globe.
“The books have been preserved. they were not discarded,’’ Goddard told the Globe in an e-mail.
