The Boston branch of the NAACP is calling for the removal of Lynne Mooney Teta, headmaster of Boston Latin School, after an investigation into her response to racially charged incidents at the school, reports The Boston Globe.

After a five-hour meeting on Sunday, Michael Curry, the branch president, said Teta failed the students at her school and “for that she needs to go,’’ reports the Globe.

Curry criticized the way Teta handled a Nov. 7, 2014 incident in which a student called a black female student a racial slur and “threatened her with a reference to lynching,’’ according to the Globe.

“We no longer have faith that she can act in a way that is in the best interest of the students at Boston Latin, particularly when it comes to safety,’’ Curry told the Globe after the meeting. “We don’t come to this lightly.’’
