41 people arrested at Bridgewater house party

Bridgewater police arrested 41 people early Sunday morning at an “out of control house party,’’ according to a department release.

Police responded to a Maple Avenue residence at about 1 a.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers saw several “college-aged’’ individuals outside the home and could hear yelling and glass breaking inside, police said.

At first, officers were unable to gain access into the home, but witnessed a “large number of people inside of the home yelling and breaking objects,’’ according to the release. Once inside, officers spotted a “large amount of alcohol throughout the residence,’’ as well as a number of municipal street signs, police said.

Partygoers began fleeing from first-floor windows, police said, and Bridgewater police called Bridgewater State University police for assistance. Bridgewater Inspectional Services and fire officials also responded to the scene to inspect “several safety hazards’’ in the home, according to police.

The 41 people arrested were primarily charged with being a minor in possession of alcohol, disturbing the peace, and/or disorderly conduct. Two tenants, 21-year-old Juan Perez of Everett and Andrew Jucket, 21, of Bridgewater, were charged with keeping a disorderly house, disturbing the peace, furnishing alcohol to persons under 21, and obstruction of justice, police said.

“This is not the typical result of a police response to a loud party,’’ Bridgewater Police Chief Christopher Delmonte said in a statement. “The number of people arrested and the charges levied against each of them should underscore the burden a few can place on neighborhoods and the amount of municipal resources required to restore order.’’

“Our residents should not have to put up with this,’’ he added. “It is a quality-of-life issue.’’

All of those arrested are expected to be arraigned this week in Brockton District Court.
