Revere police seek 2 suspects after an officer was injured during a car chase

Revere police are looking for two suspects after an officer was injured in a car chase on Thursday.

The officer had stopped what Revere police called “a suspicious party’’ in a car on Park Avenue when the car sped away, according to a statement by Revere police. Police believe the driver of the car is Michael Gouthro, 44, of Medford, who has four outstanding warrants for his arrest.

“Gouthro attempted to stab the officer with a syringe,’’ Revere police wrote in the statement.

Police are looking for Michael Gouthro and Jacqueline Murphy.

The officer pursued the vehicle into Chelsea, crashing into a utility pole. He was was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was treated for “a concussion and various contusions, bruises to the face and body,’’ according to police. The officer, who has not been named, is expected to make a full recovery.

Police believe Gouthro may be accompanied by a female passenger named Jaqueline Murphy, 32, of Revere, who has one outstanding warrant for her arrest. Police said the pair were in a two-door Honda Accord with an attached stolen Massachusetts plate with the number 833TK1.

“Officers from numerous agencies including the Massachusetts State Police have been actively looking for them over the last week,’’ according to Revere police.
