Teacher charged with assault after allegedly knocking candy out of student’s hand
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) — Police say a Manchester teacher is facing a charge of assaulting a student.
Police say 52-year-old Anita Lemay is accused of knocking candy out of the hand of the student on Jan. 29 after the 14-year-old boy allegedly caused a disturbance in class while eating it and refused to listen to her.
Authorities said Wednesday that a para-professional who had witnessed the incident and a scratch on the student’s wrist removed the student from the classroom and reported the incident to the principal.
Lemay of Manchester is facing a charge of simple assault. A court date has not yet been set. It was not immediately known if Lemay is being represented by an attorney. No phone number is listed in her name.
