Massachusetts man killed in skiing accident in Vermont
A Massachusetts man was killed in a skiing accident at Burke Mountain Ski Area in Vermont on Monday, according to a release from Vermont State Police.
Shirinian Varter, 58, of Watertown, was skiing with his family around 3:40 p.m. on the mountain’s Big Dipper Trail when he lost control, traveled into the woods, and collided with a tree, police said.
Varter was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet, according to police.
