Traffic alert: Spinouts, crashes mount as conditions deteriorate

The wet and snowy conditions from Friday morning’s snowstorm caused a number of spinouts, crashes, and traffic disruptions around the state.

The HOV lane on I-93 northbound into Boston is closed on Friday morning due to the snowstorm, Massachusetts Department of Transportation said. A total of 3,184 crews were out to chemically treat state roadways just after 10 a.m., DOT said.

Speed on the Mass Pike is reduced to 40 miles per hour from New York border to Weston, state police said.

A truck fire closed two lanes on I-495 southbound in Andover near the intersection with I-93, DOT said. The scene has been cleared.
