Body in Charles River may have been submerged for ‘extended period,’ say police
A body pulled from the Charles River Thursday morning appeared to have been submerged for an extended period of time, according to a state police spokesman.
A passerby spotted the body at about 8:15 a.m. on the Cambridge side of the river near the Longfellow Bridge, according to spokesperson David Procopio.
The deceased was a male, according to a statement from Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan’s office.
The State Police Marine Unit recovered the body.
The Middlesex District Attorney’s office will handle the investigation, Procopio said.
