Hazardous materials incident near Kenmore Square caused by leak on FedEx truck
A box on the truck contained a bottle leaking hydrochloric acid, according to the Boston Fire Department.
Emergency personnel responded to a hazardous material situation late Tuesday afternoon near Kenmore Square, according to the Boston Fire Department.
At around 4:45 p.m., firefighters received a call to 595 Beacon St. Upon arriving, they found that a FedEx truck had a box containing a leaking bottle of hydrochloric acid. There were no reports of injuries.

Hazmat crews used a neutralizing agent in the back of the truck, according to the department. The bottle was expected to be placed in a container and packaged for a cleanup vendor to remove.

The department said that the level 3 response was only a precaution.
Both police and fire departments were asking people to avoid Beacon Street and Comm. Ave. in the Kenmore Square area.
