Mashpee Middle-High School evacuated, students sent home after bomb threat

Nothing was found after a search of the school and the threat was deemed not credible.

Mashpee Middle-High School was evacuated and students were sent home after a bomb threat was made Monday morning.

The school was searched, but nothing was found and the threat was deemed not credible, said Gail Hannan, administrative assistant to the superintendent.

The other schools in the district will be dismissed at their regular times today, but all evening events at the Middle-High School have been cancelled, according to a statement from acting Superintendent Patricia DeBoer.

The school was one of many in Massachusetts that received a bomb threat January 15. No students were sent home at that time.

The FBI is currently leading an investigation into a series of disruptive bomb threats directed at over a dozen local schools last month. Scott Carline, Mashpee Chief of Police, said this threat was consistent with the ones the FBI is investigating.
