2 people died in an overnight house fire in Groton
Two people are dead after a fire tore through a single family home in Groton Thursday night.
The blaze started around 11:30 p.m.
“We had fire coming out of every window on the front side of the house so there was extensive fire conditions on our arrival,’’ Groton Fire Chief Steele McCurdy told reporters at the scene. “So firefighters were unable to make entry, due to those fire conditions.’’
McCurdy told reporters that two adult residents were unaccounted for and later found dead. Their names have not yet been released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
