Red Line speeds back to normal on Longfellow Bridge

The Boston Globe

The MBTA has lifted all speed restrictions for inbound Red Line trains crossing the Charles River over the Longfellow Bridge.

MBTA spokesman Joe Pesaturo confirmed to Boston.com Wednesday morning that the speed restrictions—which had trains running at 10 mph for part of this week—have been lifted.

The speed restrictions were implemented, in part, because new tracks were laid down over the weekend.

“When new rails are installed, some time is required to allow the track to settle before trains can operate at regular speeds over it,’’ Pesaturo said.

Full subway information is available on the MBTA’s website.
