A father delivered his own daughter in the back of the family’s minivan on Interstate 495 in Boxborough Tuesday morning, reports The Boston Globe.

Mark and Jennifer Scalise, of Clinton, were on their way to the hospital just before 6:30 a.m. when the baby’s head started to emerge, reports the Globe. Scalise caught the baby in a fleece jacket.

Scalise removed the umbilical cord from around the baby’s neck before calling Massachusetts State Police for help, he told the Globe. Boxborough EMS arrived shortly after.

Harper Grace and her mom were taken to Emerson Hospital in Concord. The baby, weighing 7 pounds, 6.5 ounces with a full head of black hair, checked out fine. The little girl is the couple’s third child.
