A Hyde Park man will be sentenced for child pornography charges

A Hyde Park man has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges.

Geraldo Christiano DeSouza, 44, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Boston to one count of possession of child pornography, one count of distribution of child pornography, one count of sexual exploitation of children, and two counts of coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in sexual activity, according to a statement by the United States Department of Justice.

In 2012, an undercover officer discovered child pornography was being distributed from DeSouza’s residence. According to the statement, a search warrant revealed numerous child pornography files and evidence that DeSouza had “chatted’’ with minors using social media and a webcam and directed them to display themselves in a sexually explicit manner. According to officials, DeSouza also used his cellphone to film himself having sexual intercourse with a minor.
