Boston Police’s ‘SWAT Cat’ has returned
“The (SWAT) Cat Came Back!’’ police said.
After almost two months apart, the Boston Police Department’s SWAT team was finally reunited with its favorite feline friend, the “SWAT Cat,’’ police said.
Police said the “beloved mascot’’ returned to their base in Roxbury on Thursday morning at around 7 a.m.
The stray calico cat began hanging out with the SWAT team in 2013 for belly rubs and food. But the kitty stopped visiting the SWAT team about two months ago, and the squad put out a B.O.L.O. for information on the cat’s whereabouts last month.
“She had become part of the family,’’ one officer’s said. “But it’s sad, she’s not there. It’s like going to work and not seeing a well-liked coworker.’’
On Thursday, police thanked the community for keeping an eye out for the cat.
“The officers are just happy that she was safe all this time,’’ police said.
