Man charged after police execute warrant, find drugs, cash, and ammo

Boston Police Department

Boston police officers, executing a search warrant on VFW Parkway Tuesday, discovered ammunition, cash, and several forms of illegal drugs, and took a suspect into custody, according to Boston police.

Officers recovered heroin, Suboxone film, marijuana, morphine, and cocaine, along with a box of .44 caliber ammunition, four digital scales, and just over $1,000 in cash, according to the report.

Angel Ruiz, 27, of West Roxbury, was then taken into custody. He was arraigned Wednesday in West Roxbury Municipal Court on charges including trafficking heroin, distribution of a Class A substance, and unlawful possession of ammunition, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

Bail was set at $10,000 and the judge declined a request by prosecutors that Ruiz be ordered to wear a GPS monitor if released on bail. The judge, Mary Ann Driscoll, also denied a motion by prosecutors to revoke Ruiz’s bail on an open case out of Malden District Court, according to the DA’s office.

In that case, Ruiz is charged with assault and battery, assault and battery on a police officer, and resisting arrest, the DA’s office said.

Ruiz will return to court on February 3. Attempts to reach his attorney were not immediately returned.
