Body found off Auburn highway identified as Oxford man

A body found among frozen trees and brush alongside an Auburn highway on Tuesday has been identified as a man from Oxford, according to the Worcester County District Attroney’s office.

Authorities said the man is 48-year-old David LaRoche and that the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of his death.

LaRoche’s body was found at the bottom of a 50-foot embankment off the eastbound side of I-290, just past the Worcester city line, by relatives searching for him, according to the DA’s office. Authorities said LaRoche had exited a car pulled over in the breakdown lane on I-290 late Monday night.
