Ex-Providence Mayor Buddy Cianci engaged to campaign aide
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Former Providence Mayor Buddy Cianci is planning to get hitched.
The longest serving mayor in Providence history and a two-time convicted felon says he proposed to Tara Marie Haywood on Christmas Day. No wedding date has been set.
Haywood, who is in her mid-30s, worked on Cianci’s ill-fated comeback campaign for mayor in 2014. She met and began dating the 74-year-old Cianci during the campaign.
Haywood is a Providence native and had been working out of state as a model, actress and broadcaster when Cianci decided to run again for mayor in 2014. She quit and moved back to volunteer on his campaign.
Cianci was married once before and divorced.
Cianci hosts a daily talk show on WPRO-AM and works as a political analyst for WLNE-TV.
