Catherine Greig’s twin sister: ‘I want her home, where she belongs’
The twin sister of Catherine Greig, James “Whitey’’ Bulger’s longtime girlfriend, was emotional outside the Boston federal courthouse Monday after learning her sister will plead guilty to criminal contempt, reports The Boston Herald.
“We were very, very close, and I miss that. I really do. Yes, I want her home, where she belongs. It’s very painful,’’ Margaret McCusker told the Herald.
Greig pleaded guilty in 2012 to charges of conspiracy to harbor a fugitive and is already serving an eight-year prison sentence. Greig is being charged with criminal contempt for refusing to testify before a federal grand jury about who helped the couple while they were on the run.
McCusker has previously told reporters that Greig knows nothing about Bulger’s crimes. She said Monday it would be “a waste’’ for officials to add more time to Greig’s sentence.
