Free rides, extra MBTA service for New Year’s Eve
The MBTA will stop collecting fairs and run extra trains on its subway and commuter rail lines for New Year’s Eve.
According to the MBTA’s website, no fares will be collected on New Year’s Eve beginning at 8 p.m.
Also, the T announced that Red, Orange, Green, and Blue lines will all run additional trains and operate at rush-hour levels from 3 p.m. New Year’s Eve until approximately 2 a.m. on New Year’s morning.
The Commuter Rail will run a modified weekday schedule with additional service on New Year’s Eve.
The T announced that bicycles won’t be allowed on inbound commuter rail trains on New Year’s Eve from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., nor on outbound trains from 4 p.m. through the end of service.
On New Year’s Day, all subway and commuter rail lines will operate on a Sunday schedule.
